Trispis says, "The hunt, once you've participated for a while (and I did both hide and hunt aspects), tends to become sort of uninteresting (as both a hider and a hunter)." Trispis says, "So, what I was hoping to propose today was the possibility of modifying the hunt in some way, so that it retains some of that 'shiny new' quality each and every moment of each and every day (that'd be ideal, but I'd be willing to forego the 'each and every moment' and settle for 'each and every day'... or even each and every *week*, if it continued to stimulate interest). Example suggestion (take it or leave it, I have no emotional attachment, it's just an example): Only having one item to hunt for at any given time... and rotate through the items (possibly randomly)." If an object is hidden too well, no-one finds it and everyone gives up. I've scoured the grid for a couple of the really long hidden items and I just wouldn't know where to hunt any more. I think others feel the same. Viila tends to agree with Elvira. Kyieren nods, frustration can be an aversion. variable says, "Make a chain of items with hints leading to the next one?" Elvira thinks a hint system would be good Kyieren says, "That'd be a lot of work though, to coordinate all the hints" Trispis says, "Anyway, I don't know if anyone was prepared to make such suggestions today, but perhaps if given a month or two to think about it (til the next town meeting?) you all might come up with some innovative and 'shiny new' ideas to try on the hunt." If we really want participation, rather than polling (which, so far, has *never* affected a change in the scheduled date, to my knowledge), we should just schedule... something like "the first Saturday in months divisible by 3 (March, June, September, and December)". we can still rotate (by election) the moderator/coordinator, but they'd be bound by the schedule... so there's never a question about when to attend."
