Gabriel steps through the door and gives a polite and respectable bow removing his hat as he does and extending it with a sweeping motion of his arm. He returns to an upright position and silently conveys his condolensces to the widow. Again his eyes scan the room hard as he continues to look for something. Harl strolls into the sitting room and moves by the fire Hopi smiles broadly, revealing uneven teeth with large spaces between them, and moves her hand to take Prudence's. "Good, good. Must eat, must drink, must rest, must stay well," she declaims. Prudence nervously smiles at the people arriving. "Thank you, Gabriel, for your heartfelt thoughts." She seems a little skittish, but maintains her composure. Mathieu has reconnected. [OOC] Mathieu argh! SPAM Mathieu has partially disconnected. Phillippe walks over to Mathieu. "Did you see where Fleur has lost herself?" Entering and moving over and stands in the eerie red glow, Errol Rathbone watches eagerly as others enter the room. He bows to them as they meander in. Guillaume enters the room knowing that his presence will assuredly cause some commotion. Upon entering Guillaume finds a corner from which he can servey the whole room. Mathieu walks in hurridly over to Phillippe, "No father I haven't." He looks out the door, "If you wish me to go look for her, I'd be more than hapy to..." Hopi, seated next to Prudence and holding her hand, makes a loud sniffing noise. Prudence nods to Ettienne and the others. "All of you are most kind for your words of support..." Her voice cracks and she goes silent. Gerard steps in removing his hat and looks around at everyone, then steps over to the side and waits for the proceedings to begin, his face a mask, consealing any emotions. Phillippe thinks for a second. "You better stay here. I'm sure she'll make it in a minute. If not, I'll go get her." He moves to a seat and sits down. Mathieu walks behind his father and takes the seat next to him, leaving one open on his other side for his mother, should she decide to attend. "Ahha!" Gabriel exclaims as he finds his companion, "Milady!" he calls to Melisande to gain her attention. He takes one are and pushes Errol Rathbone from his path and quickly makes his way to the Mistress. Hopi looks carefully at the colour of Prudence's face, and makes another sniffing sound. Ettienne remains quiet as he sits and observes the room's occupants. His gaze also falls upon all of the room's ornaments. He sighs as idlly shuffles his feet and wrings his hands while he waits for the events of the night to begin. [OOC] Gabriel says, "are=arm" Mathieu looks over towards Gabriel and sighs before turning back around and going back to glancing about the room. Harl carefully observes all present, with an appraising glance. He seems to pay particular attention to the women present, but keeps his thoughts to himself Grenchen makes her way through the door into the chamber shortly after the arrival of Guillaume. Hastily glancing around, she spots Phillippe and Mathieu and hurries over to where they sit. Hopi notices the doctor and frowns. "Milady," Gabriel continues as he arrives at the lady Melisande's side, "I was worried that I had lost you." He bows deeply to her confirming his service. "And what has become of Master Antoine?" Prudence looks around the room timidly, her hand on her belly. Her soft voice breaks into some of the rooms chatter. "I had heard that their might be a visitor of the name Raoul, tonight. Has anyone heard of such a guest?" Phillippe looks at Fleur and smiles. "Glad to see you made it inside." Gerard sets is hand on the hilt of his sword and remembers to keep an eye on the young Gabriel so if something happens he doesn't get out of hand. [OOC] Phillippe says, "Okay, I vote Grenchen @names herself to Fleur, this is just going to confuse everyone. :)" Mathieu glances over to Fluer, "Good day, m'lady." Gabriel stands nobly and firmly at Melisande's side and looks about the room for one named Raoul. "Eh?!" Mother Hopi says loudly to Locke. "You'll haveta speak up milord, these poor ears are old and not much use now." Rathbone has reconnected. Rathbone has partially disconnected. Ettienne's eyes narrow slightly as he spots Melisande amonst those present. His brow furrows as if he begins to think deeply. Fleur flashes a weak smile at Phillippe as she takes a seat nearby him, her voice barely audible, and barely understandable at that, as she answers, "Danke..er..Thank you m'lord, the crowds are quite large, are they not..." Locke shouts into Hopi's ear, "I'll talk to you later widow lady, when you take a break from the Prodence." Hopi nods to Locke. "Yes, milord, as you command." Mumbling quietly to himself, the Cardinal's Blade ignores the Musketeer and just stands back. He stands in a dark corner of the room and watches everyone. Mathieu smiles and nods, "Also, wie geht es Ihnen heute?" Gives off a sly grin as he talks to Fleur... Phillippe nods. "Yes, yes, they are. Marquis Montpezat was a much loved man." He shoots a look at his son. A sigh can be heard amongst the chatter as the Church's lawyer resettles himself in his chair. He quietly mutters to himself, but it is still loud enough to be heard by those near. "I should think that the preceedings should be starting soon." Also a few other things come out of his mouth, but they are not quite intelligible. Harl moves towards Prudence and leans over to whisper discretly "And do you have training in midwifery, too, sirrah, that you can look at a woman and discuss her proceedings from across the room?" Hopi asks the lawyer. Prudence watches Harl with indifference, nodding her head. Harl nods to himself, seeming pleased Mathieu stands up and walks over towards Gerard, "Excuse me sir, may I speak with you a moment..." He raises an eyebrow questioningly and stands there. Prudence struggles to stand, her full belly setting her off balance as she rises from her seat. Ettienne looks up as he is addressed, "Oh, I'm sorry ma'am. I did not mean those preceedings. I meant..." he gestures at those gathered in the room, "...these preceedings." Gabriel watches Mathieu closely as he takes with his associate. Hopi lets go of Prudence's hand as the other woman stands. Phillippe watch his son wander off and gets a puzzled expression on his face. Harl seems to look down his nose at Hopi Hopi sneers back at the doctor. [OOC] Mathieu says, "Man, he's idle, what a pud. :P" Prudence manages to get to her feet, mostly oblivious to what is happening around her. She rings her hands for a moment and seems to mutter to herself. Fleur smiles at Mathieu as he addresses her in her native tounge, addressing him back, "Ich bin gut Mathieu, ich hoffe du auch sind sehr gut.." [OOC] Fleur says, "Sorry about the Idle time" Phillippe shoots Fleur a look this time. [OOC] Mathieu pretends He didn't walk over to Gerard since I don't wanna wait forever for a response. Hopi says, "Someone's had an auch-sident? Eh?" Harl quietly says to Hopi..learn your place, less God puts you in it "Eh, sonny?!" Hopi nearly snarls at the doctor. "Some doctor to mumble inanities at an old wise woman." [OOC] Gerard says, "Sorry, dealing with a 5 year old..I'll pose now." Mathieu walks over and sits next to Fleur and whisper, "Ja, ich bin gut. Ich bin seh mu:de und muB schlaffen...." [OOC] Mathieu says, "Ok, it's fine. :P" [OOC] Mathieu says, "seh=sehr" Phillippe frowns at the whole exchange between Fleur and Mathieu. Prudence seems to witdraw deeper and deeper into herself as the chatter continues. Casting a wry look at those who are speaking in German, Enttienne smiles slightly to himself and continues his idle feet shuffling and hand wringing. Harl says, "Rest yourself M'Lady, mind your condition" Gerard stands in his corner of the room and looks at Rathbone, then turns his gaze to the tohers and watches reactions to certain people. Hopi seems to offer Harl a look of grudging approval. Phillippe leans forward and asks his son queitly what he's talking about. Mathieu turns to Phillippe, "I was just asking her how she was. And she asked me." He smiles slightly, "I've been reading up on the German language as of late... It's not too different from our own." He speaks rather quietly as to not embarass his father for his lack of knowlege in front of so many people. Phillippe nods and whispers, "Okay. Come back here, I have a something to aak you." Mathieu stands up and waits for his father. Prudence ignores Harl and looks through the doorway and into the hall, seemingly nodding to herself or to someone else. Her voice is quiet, but the profound sadness (and the horrible French accent) of it seems to break through the talk. "Dinner is ready. We should not let it get cold." Locke twiddles his thumbs Hopi mumbles, "Good, good, must eat, must drink, must rest." Ettienne stands up from his seat and stretches his legs as dinner is announced. Phillippe stands and starts to pull his son off the side, but gets called to food. Fleur ignores the glance from the Marquis, pretending ignorance, and continues on smiling at Mathieu, "Ich denke Sie werden schlaft fur viele tage spater...ja?" Mathieu glances over with a confused look on his face as his father walks off towards the dinning room. As the crowd stirs at the call of food, Rathbone moves from his place on the wall and begins wandering through the crowd looking over each person he walks by with a keen eye. Phillippe looks back. "Well, Mathieu, it appears your mother can't make it to dinner. Come on." Mathieu turns to his father and speaks softly, "So what was it you wished to speak with me about?" Melisande saunters into the dining room on the arm of the Musketeer. Stopping in the doorway she gazes at the room. Her eyes go wide as she spots a familiar face. She throws a shocking glance over at Ettienne before scurrying quickly to a seat hoping for once to be unnoticed. Locke takes a seat on the otherside of Hopi, "Ahh yes, milady.. I shall enjoy the time to talk to you while we're eating our food." Hopi doesn't blush, but gives the impression that effort is involved. Prudence is silent as dinner is served. She doesn't even notice who's still standing or who is sitting. Using her silverware, she begins to push the food around on her plate, but doesn't actually eat a single bite. Harl finds a seat far from the midwife..but continues to quietly observe her Phillippe leans in close to Mathieu and whispers so quietly no one else can hear him. Hopi bends toward Prudence. "You must eat, dearie, for the child as well as for yourself." Mathieu grabs his glass of wine and swirls it in his glass for a moment, indulging in the strong aroma before taking a sip. He turns and whispers to Phillippe. Gabriel scowls as he is visually reprimanded by Gerard. He takes a few steps away from Rathbone, still watching him carefully and eventually ends up near a corner of the table where he takes a seat. Not catching the glance by Melisande, Ettienne spies her as she scurries to a seat. He smiles quietly to himself and begins to slowly glance at all the others present. Harl asks the servant for a glass of water, after moving his wine glass away Prudence looks to Hopi, almost seeming surprised the midwife is beside her. She is obedient, though, lifting a small bite to her mouth. Locke turns toward the midwife, "I have spoken to many of people amongst the village. They have told many things of thy, as i have come to known. You been here for a long age, i was hoping that you would know somethin of a sacred water." Melisande takes a seat at the opposite end of the table as the man she clearly wishes to avoid. As her plate sits before her she eyes the food but reaches for the wine glass and sips from it slowly. Only allowing her eyes to wander to Ettienne when she thinks he isn't looking. Welcoming Room: Armand has connected. Armand leaves and walks towards the gates. Dining Room: Armand enters from the nw hallway. "A fine meal indeed." Rathbone notes with a mirthful voice. He scans the table for a moment, then looks for a seat as near to Melisande as possible, eventually settling for a seat directly across the table from her. Armand strolls in from the hallway, in somewhat of a hurry Locke says, "there have been rumours, as i see thoust are well acquainted with the knowledge of herbs." Phillippe whispers back to Mathieu. Harl hears talk of herbs and frowns deeply Locke snaps a look at Harl Ettienne sends a mirthless smile over to Melisande one of the times that she does look at him when he is looking at her. He listens to the conversations around him without joining in any at the monment. "'Tis acquired by long practice and study of sacred plants and their behaviour, mon chou," Mother Hopi agrees. Mathieu raises a brow and looks at his father, raising his voice from a whipser, "Fine father... But thats all I will do..." He drops back down to a whisper, but the expression on his face shows everyone present his words are being said with a certain ammount of vennom in them. Harl says, "mutters "sacred plants indeed"" Phillippe looks vaguely satified, if wondering a bit if Mathieu will actually follow though. Phillippe whispers back. Locke nods, looks down, & thinks to himself. Prudence continues to watch her fork as it pushes around the food on her plate, but there is a spark of awareness in her visage as she listens to talk of sacred water. Armand says, "By any chance, would any of you fine people happen to know where i could get a drink?" "Pet a mink?" Hopi repeats, mumbling to herself. "In this village?" Harl hands Armand his untouched glass of wine, glad to be rid of it Armand takes the glass and thanks harl. Armand sips the wine slightly, then frowns and puts it down on the table. Locke notices Prudence for a moment, then shakes his head & mumbles, "Noo, can't be. Or could it?" Ettienne seems to finally notice the food in front of him and tests it with a nod of approval. He begins to slowly eat it and takes a sip of his wine after every few bites. His eyes show intrest in the conversations going on around him although he understands little of it. Phillippe finishes his whisper discussion with Mathieu, and drinks some of his wine. Locke moves around a piece of food on his plate, as half of the plate seems cleaned. Mathieu sneers at his father, then turns to his plate and stabs his knife repeatedly into the large slab of meat on it. He takes a deep breath and sets his knife down before turning to Prudence, "M'lady... I am very sorry for your loss." He smiles at her, "If there is anything me, or my father can do in any way to assist you, please don't hesitate to ask..." He leans a little bit forward across the table and says a little bit lower, "The los of a loved one can be extemely trying, but it will only make you stronger for the future..." He smiles as he sits back, trying to perk up her spirits a little. Harl says, "im curious, has the local priest visited in this troubled time?" Armand walks over to his place at the table, still mumbling apologies for his lateness Gerard folds his arms over his chest and pretty much tries to ignore the conversations and keep his attention focused on his duty. Locke mmms, as he pats his stomatch, "who has prepared this great meal?" Prudence raises her eyes to watch Mathieu's display of sincerity with some interest. "Is there anything you can do?" The phrase seems to strike her funny, and she laughs lost in her own thoughts. "Bring my husband back to me, Mathieu. See that my child has a father...and a home." She pushes her plate away from her. Clearly finished. Harl looks at Prudence and repeats.."has the local Priest attened to your needs in this time of need"? Melisande finishes off her first glass of wine and looks around for someone to refill her glass. Nervously she glances over to Ettienne and breaths a sigh of relief as he shows more interest in his food than her. Armand looks at harl for a second at the mention of priest, then chews on a peice of meat Mathieu looks at the lady and hastily says, "I wish I could bring your husband back..." He sighs, and looks at his father before turning back to Prudence, "And I can see your child has a home as well..." Rathbone grins wryly as he notes Melisande's lack of comfort. He partakes in a few sips of his wine as he works to put the pieces of the puzzle together. Prudence blinks at Harl. "Father Armand attended to my husband on his deathbed...he is the only priest I've heard from." Locke gets up with sipping a glass of whine, puts it down then walks over to Prudence to whisper somethin in her ear. Prudence looks at Ettienne as if in response to Mathieu's observation of her child having a home. Armand slowly walks around the room with his plate, admiring the various items Phillippe unconvincingly doesn't pay any attention to Mathieu and Prudence, and eats his food with vigor. Harl says, "I would like to have a word with Father Armand, if you would, in the hall" Armand says, "Of course" Armand puts his plate down and strolls into the hall Ettienne finishes his plate of food and quickly stifles a yawn as he sits back in his chair. He finishes his glass of wine and smiles as it is quickly refilled. He tosses one glance at Melisande and shifts in his seat uncomforatbly. He mutters something to himself under his breath, but it is not understood by anyone. Harl stands and moves to the hall Armand leaves and walks towards the nw hallway. Not wanting to find herself in a /situation/ as Ettienne begins wandering around the room she glances around and tries to slip out into the hallway unnoticed. NW Hallway: Melisande enters from the dining room. Armand says, "I suppose that would be possible" Harl looks to the lady..may i help you? I thought you called him, and most unwisely if an old woman can be any judge." NW Hallway: Melisande wanders into the hallway and sees the two speaking and decides to slip away into the courtyard before being noticed. As she tries to sneak by she is noticed though. Dining Room: Not noticing that the mistress has left, Ettienne continues to wander about the room and his eyes grow slightly in surpise at finding her gone. Phillippe says, "It wasn't I who called him." Kitchen: Locke looks down, "I believe i could let you in, the friend of which i speak of." NW Hallway: Armand says, "of course" Harl nods pleasantly Dining Room: Gabriel moves toward the doorway as the Mistress leaves. He, however, does not pass through but remains keeping and eye on those he finds troublesome. Kitchen: Locke says, "You are english, you willst understand i believe.. Mi Lord, the King of England. Charles II" Dining Room: Hopi whispers to Phillippe, then says, aloud, "Well, perhaps he's not wanted, then. He's certainly not needed." Kitchen: Locke says, "we must find any way we can within our reach to protect his majesty!" NW Hallway: Melisande curtsies to the men and then rushes off to the courtyard. Glancing behind her once cautiously making sure she's not being followed. Melisande leaves and walks towards the courtyard. Welcoming Room: Blanche has connected. NW Hallway: Armand says, "Suspicious lass" Dining Room: Hopi cackles to herself. "When a man can give birth to a baby himself, then he can begin to consider himself fitly prepared to aid another to have one." Kitchen: Prudence's eyes widen. "Indeed." Her hand goes to her belly. "Did...did my husband know of this secret, Locke? Did he know of your plan?" He seems little affected by the grimness of the day. He walks over toward Ettienne and gives a polite nod of his head and a tip of his glass toward him as he takes a full sip from it. "She seems a fine enough lady, wouldn't you say?" he speaks to the lawyer at last. NW Hallway: Armand says a quick prayer then returns to the conversation Harl says, "let us return and observe them, say nothing of what i have told you" Armand nods Harl leaves and walks towards the dining room. Dining Room: Harl says, "and who attended the Marquis?" Harl looks directly at the midwife Phillippe grins. "You will, Hopi, although, I am not certain there will be anymore midwifery at my estate." Rathbone drains his glass and gives a big smile to the lawyer, "The lady." he says pausing with a grin, "She seems to fancy you." he turns and takes a step to set the glass on the table, "You were certainly on her mind at any rate, didn't you notice?" Kitchen: Locke stands up straight, "Yes, he is here in France. Right now we have him hiding a distance outside of town, until i find a safe haven for mi lord." Dining Room: Mathieu walks over to Gerard, "Excuse me M'lord, could I have a moment of your time?" He speaks a little quieter than normal... Armand looks up, slightly surprised Gerard nods to Mathieu with a soft smile, "Of course lad, what did you have on your mind?" Kitchen: Locke says, "you must not let this information get to anyone or England, our beautiful england could be overthrown by a madman & his supporters." Dining Room: Armand gets up and helps Blanche to a seat at the table Ettienne takes a sip of his glass as he ponders the unexpected question. "No, I must say that I did not notice. But I also must ask, which lady do you refer to? I notice several." he says with a slight grin. Mathieu whispers very lightly to Gerard, and speaks very fast, glancing over his shoulder every once in a while to make sure his father isn't looking. Phillippe looks over at the doctor. Blanche enters the room quietly and takes the seat that Armand offers. "Thank you, Father." Kitchen: Prudence seems to consider. "You are a good man, Locke and a faithful subject to the Crown. No higher compliment can be paid. I tell you...if I find the sacred waters, you will be the first to know. I'll not breathe a word of this to anyone, my friend...but you must remember me. You must remember that I offer you now anything that I can to help...and that if I find the water, it will be yours. You must remember my name to the heir...to the King." Dining Room: Armand says, "Im glad to see your health has afforded you this oppurtunity to attend tonight" Phillippe says, "Excuse me, Fleur." and walks over to the doctor. Hopi toddles over to Blanche. "Greetings, my lady." Blanche says, "Excuse me for being late, my carriage broke a wheel and the cabbie was an idiot at trying to fix it." Kitchen: Locke nods somenly, "Yes milady, i would be most greatful." Dining Room: Harl quietly observes Blanche Kitchen: Prudence says, "And please. If you find the water...if I could have but only a bit..." Dining Room: Gerard listens to Mathieu as he goes visibly pale upon seeing Blanche, his eyes diverting from her quickly. Phillippe looks at what Harl is looking at and sees his wife enter. Blanche inclines her head. "Greetings, Mother" Rathbone laughs slightly at Ettienne's response, "You're a cad." he says with a soft chuckle, "But a man that knows the ladies I'm sure." he gestures to the doorway the the Mistress Melisande has recently exited, "Why the King's Emissary of course, Lady Melisande." he looks back to the lawyer, "Look me in the eye and tell me honestly that you didn't notice her gaze." Kitchen: Locke nods, "That would wise, considering you shape & the events that are showering you.." Dining Room: Hopi says, "And how are you feeling, dearie? Did you say you'd broke a heel?" Mathieu turns and bows to Blanche, "Good evening mother..." Kitchen: A small servant boy walks up over to Locke, a smile growing over his face, "Well milord I had heard this rumour that Comelius is the King's illegimate son, what do you say to that?" Dining Room: Phillippe wanders back to the table and stands next to his wife. Kitchen: Locke sneers at the servant Dining Room: Blanche smiles at her son. "Good evening, dear." Armand says, "say, blanche, may i speak with you in the hall for a moment?" Blanche says, "No, Hopi not a heel... my carriage broke a wheel."" Kitchen: Prudence looks at the servant, paling. "What do you know of this, boy..." Dining Room: Armand stands up and motions towards the door Hopi says, "Eh? Oh, a wheel. I thought you'd injured your carriage by breakin' a heel." Gerard frowns a bit as you can tell he is somewhat shaken, "I really don't think this is the right time to discuss this, but I will give the matter some thought and speak with those involved, if that would please thee?" Hopi cackles quietly to herself. Fleur has remained silent the entire evening, eating her dinner in peace and listening to the other conversations that take place around her. Occasionally she tosses a sidelong glace towards Mathieu, but lets no gaze linger, quickly looks away every time. Armand leaves and walks towards the nw hallway. NW Hallway: Blanche says, "You wanted something?" Armand says, "you arent having second thoughts, are you?" Dining Room: Looking the blade in the eye, Ettienne smiles with a slightly mocking air, "I did not notice her gaze, good sir. I was too occupied with the delicious meal in front of me." Dining Room: Mathieu frowns slightly but thinks about what was said and smiles, "I would be most greatful to you sir." He bows to you, "Thank you." He then turns on one heel happily and strolls back over, this time taking the seat of the far side of Fleur, opposite his father so his mother may have a seat near her husband. Phillippe looked up at his son talking to the musketeer, and wonders what is going on, but dismisses it as his son returns. NW Hallway: Armand says, "yes, but it is vital you dont tell anyone about this, or we will /both/ be burned at the stake" Blanche says, "I've not desire for that, don't worry." Kitchen: Locke yanks the servant as he bends down & speaks in a harsh tone, "Even if i am the Bastard son of the former King Charles, that does not make it any of your concern," and then calms down his voice, "What would behold this parchment if i opened in any case?" [OOC] Prudence eeps? Dining Room: Gerard bows to him and watches Blanche leave, then tries to compose himself, "Of course good sir, I'll do what I can." Harl says, "perhaps even a "spell" or two....hmmmm?" He smiles happily as he strikes up the conversation Kitchen: Prudence sighs. "I know that the both of you mean me well." Her hand goes to her belly again. "I'll not choose between you. If you both have my best interests at heart, you'll stop this sniping." Hopi has eyes for Prudence alone. Soft clear eyes, wrinkled about the edges, regarding her with concern. NW Hallway: Locke nods, "Would you happen to have any business with the cardinal?" Dining Room: Phillippe butts into his son's conversation. "Son, if you had waited a minute, I have something to ask a musketeer also, and I could have asked whatever you wanted of them too." "And a harmless old woman, yet, whose hands have brought countless children into the world and brought comfort to so many women in need? And you not even a man-healer yourself?" Dining Room: Ettienne speaks to the swordsman and keeps the smile, "Oh, of course, sir. I wouldn't dare deface the king or anyone representing him." He sees the hand still on the sword hilt and says, "But you may wish to watch where you hand is, today is not a day to use that." He looks to the other two men and drops the smile off his face, "I thank you gentlemen for not allowing me to be harmed, not that I would have been I'm sure." Locke's face lights up, "May ask what is happening?" Kitchen: Prudence wrings her hands, turning back to Harl. "You are not here to deliver my child? Why did Louis send for you? Why are you here?" Dining Room: Phillippe says to his wife, "If you'll excuse me, I have to talk to the lawyer over there before someone kills him. Or he runs out yelling about how he is his own man." A fact I imagine a man would not understand." Harl says, "and did she treat your husband?" Hopi says, "Mon chou, this man claims to be the doctor called by the late Marquis, but tells us he is no doctor for healing, but a man of the cloth, who makes so many accusations." Dining Room: Gerard sighs and faces Rathbone, "Perhaps another time my good man, and perhaps then I may not stand in his way." Kitchen: Hopi says, "Non, 'doctor'. I saw at once that he was feverish and suggeted wet clothes be brought to cool him. No more than that, I swear it." Northern Hallway: Blanche impulsively wraps her arms around her son and says quietly. "If that is what you want, to be an honest man, then you have made me a proud mother. He said on his death bed that he wished to leave his estates to the Church if their was no male heir." Rathbone gives a crooked smile to the Musketeer, Gerard, and nods his head with a sort of odd agreement -- hoping? -- tempting? One cannot say for sure. This type of behaviour is not for ladies to see." He glares at Locke, "And not to be done in the presence of them." He turns around and walks over to the group. Kitchen: Harl looks once again at the ailing Blanche Courtyard: [OOC] Mathieu says, "behavior" Kitchen: Phillippe says, "Because, the last I heard, I had managed to convince him not to summon a doctor...so, he summons a fake doctor. That seems a bit on the odd side." Harl says, "i trust one of you can read?" Prudence says, "My husband summoned a Doctor. Harl assures me that Louis knew he was a Doctor of Theology. Perhaps...perhaps it is the rest of us that made a mistake in our assumptions." Armand says, "I can read, of course" Prudence looks at Phillippe. "Why would you convince my husband not to summon a Doctor, Marquis? Phillippe says, "Because I trust Hopi here." Harl takes a newspaper clipping from his pocket and hands it to Phillippe Courtyard: Ettienne starts to take the offered seat and stops as Gabriel burst out. He mumbles something to himself about not getting invovved. He then looks to Melisande and leans over to her saying in a low voice, "That is why he makes me feel uncomfortable. He has an air of anger and he almost attacked me before." Kitchen: Armand says, "Who has been accused by the good doctor of being a witch" [OOC] Armand says, "a newspaper clipping?" Phillippe says, "And, he /was/ speaking about a medical doctor." Courtyard: Gabriel pulls his sword from his scabbard and places it at the throat of the foolish Englishman. "You shall withdraw your words and do it now lest you've spoken your last." His eyes betray the fact that he does not threaten but promises his actions to kill the over-inquisitive little man. Kitchen: Blanche says, "Hopi? A witch?? That's ridiculous!" Harl says, "tell me M'lady..does she treat you?" Phillippe looks at the paper and hands it to the priest. Harl puts the clipping away Courtyard: [OOC] Gabriel says, "Woohoo! No Gerard to stop me!" [OOC] Ettienne cowers. ;p Antoine sighs heavily at the garrish activity, "Dear Gabriel, do be kind enough to keep the bloodshed out of doors." He shakes his head and wanders toward the east. Kitchen: Prudence looks curiously at Blanche Courtyard: Mathieu turns to Gabriel, "M'lord... This is not befitting of a Musketeer. There is no honor in slaying an unarmed man..." Kitchen: Blanche says, "She saved my life." Courtyard: [OOC] Gabriel says, "Doh! I forgot about Antoine :(" Before Ettienne has a chance to take a seat, Melisande is on her feet. Bringing her hands to her chest, she lets out a gasp as Gabriel removes his sword. Taking a step back and whispers to Ettienne "Well if he almost attacked you I'm sure he had cause. I would certainly like to know what it is you have done." Fleur nods to Mathieu but remains motionless, listening to the shouting between men, and shaking her head slowly, "Foolish men and their mannish ways..." she murmurs to herself.. Kitchen: Harl says, "in what way M'lady?" Courtyard: [OOC] Melisande laughs Kitchen: [OOC] Hopi returns. Courtyard: Locke jumps back out of the field of his sword & pulls out his as he starts to circle Gabriel. Kitchen: Blanche says, "I almost died in childbirth. My child did not survive but due to Mother Hopi, I did." Courtyard: Locke says, "as i have seen, you remain too loyal to your king. I shall withdraw my words as you place your sword back within the sheath" Kitchen: Harl says, "and now?" Blanche says, "What about now?" Phillippe adds, "And this man wants to take the only healer, who has helped us time and time again, right before the birth of a child. When we cannot summon another in time." [OOC] Locke says, "lag" Ettienne scowls slightly at Melisande and whispers back, "If he did it was his own disillusion and not from any of my actions." He takes a step back and says in a low voice to Antoine, "Umm, sir, I do believe this is out of doors." Mathieu runs back in, wielding a wonderfully crafted French foil, a couple of guards on his tail until they spot the group of people. He quickly runs up standing next to Gabriel, holding his sword at the ready, "M'lord," He says panting, "My sword..." He pauses for a moment, "Well, the armories sword, is at your side..." Kitchen: Harl says, "she was seen treating the Marquis for a "fever"..he died, she uses herbs..and no doubt charms" "Ah, milord," Hopi sighs, "Wise old women are always at the mercy of younger, often less wise men, unlike yourself." Harl says, "she denies treating any man..but clearly has" Armand says, "People do die even when receiving treatment" Prudence rubs her belly, indecisive and fretful. Her eyes dart from one face to another as she listens, taking in every word. Hopi says, "I did not treat the Marquis, beyond suggesting wet clothes to relieve his fever." Blanche looks guiltily at Phillippe and says softly. "Often I am sick of heart over the loss of my child, this is true." Courtyard: [OOC] Locke says, "what just happened?" Kitchen: Phillippe says, "And 'no doubt' charms? So, you just decided she used charms?" Courtyard: Gabriel leans his head back and lets loose with a hearty laugh as the foolish man draws to accept the challenge. "You try to save your pride as you have already retracted you words." Gabriel continues a snick. I shall have you save your face, or at least not remove it for you and not right now." the Musketeer places his sword back in it's scabbard having felt as though he has successfully 'won' the confrontation. "And if you feel the need to challenge the King's Musketeer's loyalty again, I assure you that I shall drag you kicking and screaming into the woods for a proper burial." Antoine raises an eyebrow at Ettiene's comment, one so obvious only a lawyer would make it, "Oui." [OOC] Locke is being lagged bad Kitchen: Harl says, "she refuses to answer and pretents not to hear" Courtyard: [OOC] Gabriel says, "That was my first pose since your last." Fleur steps out running towards Mathieu, shaking her head frantically, her voice heading towards hysterics, "M'lords, I beg you not to do this....what would your father think about this!" Kitchen: Harl says, "i am empowered to investigate and uncover Witches..and i will do so" Phillippe says, "And, the idea of her treating man is crazy, she barely treats women who aen't carrying a child." Blanche says, "Armand, might I talk to you in private?" Courtyard: Mathieu turns to Fleur, "I don't care what my father thinks." He takes his sword and throws it towards one of the guards, sticking it in the ground just a few feet in front of them, then turns back to Fleur, "He is a greedy old man who I want no part of." Kitchen: Harl says, "she will be question..dont doubt that..the only question is when..and where" Phillippe says, "So, she's already guilty?" Courtyard: Ettienne takes a sigh of relief and mutters to himself, "I hope this is over." Seeing that it is not from the actions of Mathieu, his gaze follows the sword as it flies and he raises an eyebrow. Kitchen: Harl says, "i did not say that" Armand says, "Is there a lawyer not aligned with the church available?" Prudence frowns. "Harl. Tell me, how did Louis know of you?" Courtyard: Melisande whispers to Ettienne as the Muskateer is still distracted "We shall discuss this later Ettienne. There are a few things we shall discuss as a matter of fact." She stands there whispering to Ettienne yet not taking her eyes off of Gabriel, planning to end the discussion if he should look her way. Kitchen: Prudence says, "What did he say to you when he summoned you?" Phillippe says, "I am convinced your husband did not call this man." Courtyard: "Your assistance is appreciated, lad." Gabriel says to Mathieu, with a gleam in his eye appreciating the loyalty and respect of the youth. "But this man'll not cause me more trouble today, I don't think." Kitchen: Phillippe says, "He wouldn't have called someone to take away the only midwife before your child is born." Courtyard: Awash with relief as Mathieu returns the sword to the ground where it properly belongs, she smiles faintly at him, "I do not argue your words m'lord, however, this violence is senseless nonetheless." Extending her hand towards the Marquis son, she adds, "Please come away from it with me, and fufill your request to walk with me.." Locke does not need to insulted like that, "I hav eno need to save my pride, I retract my words for you seem too loyal to the royalty of france when i have word that one of the musketeers is plotting against the Queen of France! It is not my word, but i have bowed my honor in finding this man & brinigng him to justice." Kitchen: Harl says, "i am well know as a hunter of witches and enemy of Satan..its clear he suspected something..and paid a high price for his suspecions" Armand says, "May i suggest that the good doctor provide what evidence of hopi's alleged withcering to the lady" [OOC] Armand says, "witchery, even" Prudence nods her head. "I wish to talk to Harl alone." Courtyard: Mathieu turns to Fleur, taking her hand again and walking from the scene... Mathieu leaves and walks towards the gates. Gates: Mathieu enters from the courtyard. Courtyard: Locke still having hi sword drawed, says, "if that is you, draw your sword & finish the fight!" Kitchen: Phillippe says, "And, he didn't bother to call a /real/ midwife, or doctor?" Harl says, "i am not taking anyone, anywhere. I will await the Church Knights and continue to observe" Courtyard: Fleur leaves and walks towards the gates. Gates: Fleur enters from the courtyard. Kitchen: Phillippe says, "Well, as I have said, even if she is a witch, which I seriously doubt, you have to leave her here until the child is born no matter what, because no one else in the village can birth a child." Harl says, "agreed..though God looks after his own" Courtyard: Antoine casts a glance at Locke upon hearing his claims of treachery. Kitchen: Hopi says, "Am I to deliver a child and then, in thanks, be taken away, milord?" Courtyard: Ettienne nods as Melisande speaks to him and he whispers back, still keeping an eye on one of the two combatants, "I should think we do, but there seems to be the problem of so many people about." He then returns his full attention to the fight and pulls up a chair to watch it. Kitchen: Armand says, "god looks after all" Phillippe says, "Hopefully not, Hopi." Phillippe says, "And, Prudence, I tell you your husband said he wasn't calling for anyone, he trusted my judgement." [OOC] Armand says, "this is rather ironic, me being atheist IRL and rping a priest :P" Hopi fixes Harl with her gaze. "'Tis no courtesy to frighten the midwife when the birth is nigh, much less the mother." Gates: Mathieu smiles to you, "I am sorry, Madame." He looks down a bit, "I was foolish." He looks at you for a moment, then begins to speak again, "You see... I wish to become a Musketeer. That is what I wish to do. I want to be a fighter, not a Maquis. I could care less about money or power." He smiles, "All I want is to be happy, and married to someone that I love." He frowns again and starts to become red in the face, "But my father will see to it that I shall never have either..." Gates: [OOC] Mathieu says, "go ahead and pose, I should be right back" Courtyard: After assessing Locke, Antoine's gaze moves to Gabriel to assess his reaction. Kitchen: Blanche says sarcastically, "With the nature of carriages about tonight, I doubt that is possible." Hopi turns back. "Escape from out of the kitchen? On these legs? With wolves about?" She turns again and toddles toward the door. Armand says, "neither hopi nor prudence is a witch, and having known them for 2 years, as opposed to you observing them for a few days, i think the church would believe me as opposed to you, doctor" Phillippe says, "Why do people keep talking about wolves?" Hopi leaves and walks towards the northern hallway. Courtyard: Gabriel looks to Lord Antoine with a hesitation as he considers whether to end the Englishman's life. "I shall have no need of drawing my sword then as I AM loyal to the king and his family." he says looking back to Locke, then glancing back to Antoine. "But your sword should be put away lest I am seen to cower from a challenge, something I will not do!" His eye focus back hard on Locke. I do need to speak to Armand." Harl says, "as you wish M'lady" Courtyard: Not the type to meddle in /these/ types of affairs, Melisande walks over to the table and stands behind Ettienne staring at his back for a few moments. Turning her head occasionally to watch for Gabriel she attempts to continue the conversation. Whispering just barely loud enough for him to hear she says "What is it you want from me now Ettienne?" Kitchen: Armand says, "here, or alone?" Phillippe just waits here then. Blanche says, "Alone please." Armand says, "how about the cellar" Blanche nods. Blanche leaves and walks towards the cellar. Gates: Fleur sighs as the two walk along under the endless ebony of the dotted night sky. Her face is serene and blissful to the company of the man at her side, and she ponders his words carefully as he speaks. After a silence disturbed only by the sounds of nature, she replies in a thickly German accented voice, soft yet heavy, "I do not understand a man's desire to fight, yet I do understand desire, and it cannot be bound or broken by anyone." Pausing for a moment, the lady considers her next words, "And I understand happiness and those who long for it, for it escapes even I. If those are your wishes m'lord, I say follow them...even if it means leaving behind your family and fortune." Cellar: Armand says, "Relax, it is ok, we must stick together," Courtyard: Phillippe walks in and looks around. Kitchen: Prudence steps closer to Harl. I only acquired it recently." Cellar: Armand says, "Its ok" Courtyard: Phillippe walks over to Gabriel. Cellar: Blanche sighs. "Possibly" Courtyard: Gabriel's posture changes noticeably as the Englishman voices his sense of loyalty that Gabriel has for his charges. Feeling a sense of respect placed upon him, he turns to see if the Lady Melisande has noticed. Hopi says, "I'm glad to hear you acquired it decently, your worship. 'Tis a beautiful thing. Milady, I'm sure, would be cheered to see it." Cellar: Armand says, "the inquisition has been gaining power" Blanche says, "My family stands to lose more than I do, at this point." Courtyard: Torn between the separation of his two charges, Gabriel is perplexed as to where to stand. Knowing the Lord's disposition toward him, he slowly moves in the direction of the Lady who sits with the man that Gabriel considers of questionable repute. Antoine holds the miniature portrait out before him for better viewing, "I am a collector..." he trails off at the mention of the woman's employer. He inquires, "And how is the Lady of the House this fine evening?" Melisande holds her head high and gracefully takes the seat offered by Ettienne. With a playful grin she calls out to Gabriel "Please Gabriel, save this business for another time. Come sit with me." Turning to Antoine, she greets him with a nod. "I would welcome anything that might cheer my heart on this sad day, sir." Harl moves towards Prudence with a book held in his hand Armand has disconnected. Harl hands her the book with a page marked Prudence's eyes are on Antoine. She waits, expectantly. Antoine bows with a grand flourish before Lady Montpezat, "At your service, M'Lady." "Why? Yes, what else am I to talk about?" Ettienne starts and then smiles, "Pick a topic then and I shall do my best to answer you." He looks at Melisande with a serious expression that shows only a hint of the laughter underneath it. Harl says, "this was in your husbands desk..do you reconize it and the hand writing?" Hopi gestures meaningfully toward the minature portrait that Antoine carries. Antoine stands and holds forth the miniature portrait. Locke sighs Prudence almost smiles at Antoine's grand gesture, but her mood is spoiled quickly by Harl's interruption. "A moment, please, /Doctor/" She looks to Antoine, reaching to examine the portrait he displays. Phillippe says in a low voice to his wife. Mathieu smiles to himself and returns the presure a little onto your hand as he walks, he then turns to you taking your other hand in his, looking at you, "Tell me, why did you come to France? What is keeping you here. Why don't you just return to your Manor?" Courtyard: Gabriel becomes intrigued by the pieces of conversation that he can discern between Antoine and Prudence. "Milady." he says asking for leave, then taking it without so much as waiting for a response. Slowly he makes his way to a position where he can see the painting and overhear the conversation better. With Gabriel standing behind her and unable to see her expression, Melisande shoots a warning glare at Ettienne. Her voice when she speaks however drips with sweetness "Well for starters I believe introductions are in order." Offering her hand, though cringing inside she says "I am Lady Melisande and have travelled here with this Fine Muskateer Gabriel." [OOC] Melisande says, "Oops, missed your pose Gab." [OOC] Gabriel says, "NP... I guess I'm not so fine, eh :)" [OOC] Melisande says, "Sure ya are. ;)" Blanche says, "It's not possible, Phillippe, as there still might be an heir." Prudence nods her head as she looks at the portrait, her recognition of the woman portrayed in it evident. "It /is/ her." Phillippe says, "Well, yes, Blanche, but assuming no heir." Antoine hesitates a moment, not answering the lady's inquiry as the portrait begins to draw a crowd. He stares at the portrait a moment before responding, "I purchased it from... " he hesitates again, "... It slips my mind, M'Lady. I'm not really certain where." He seems torn between admiration for the portrait and frustration over his loss of memory. "Oh, forgive me for being so rude as to forget that part, m'lady." Ettienne starts, "It seems that I have forgotten myself in your presence." He keeps a smile on his face, and says, "I am Ettienne Bossuet." He bows his head in a polite greeting and then says, "And after introductions, where do you want the conversation to go from there, m'lady?" Kitchen: Locke has disconnected. Locke has connected. Courtyard: Blanche thinks god will provide an heir. Antoine shakes off his mild befuddlement, "Her?" he inquires. Prudence says, "The beautiful woman in the picture is Claudette de Chalons. She is my Lady in Waiting." Kitchen: [OOC] Locke says, "really sorry about that" Courtyard: Phillippe says, "We can only pray." Kitchen: [OOC] Hopi says, "Exchange point between nap.net and sprintlink bit it, seems to be coming back now." Hopi says, "And where were you when I was in need of help? Ah, well, at least you found the Marquis d'Trarieux-Bourget, a true friend." [OOC] Locke waits for his ISP to complete loading or he may just d/c again [OOC] Locke says, "its crazy that way" Courtyard: Phillippe says, "If you'll excuse me, wife, I need to ask this musketeer for something." Blanche seems distracted, but answers, "Yes...pray." Prudence looks at Antoine most amazed. "I'd not recognized her...I had to look for a moment. Surely, though, this woman is her." Phillippe walks over the portrait crowd. Gabriel watches intently with one hand on the hilt of his sword. Kitchen: Locke says, "i'm truly sorry about that, i need to do many o fthings & didn't not see how Harl was a member of the church at that time." Locke says, "i must of been distracted of not noticing that he wasn't a doctor" Courtyard: Antoine nods seriously, not commenting. Phillippe says, "Hello, musketeer, I would like to ask you for some help." With Gabriel again out of earshot, Melisande leans closer to Ettienne and whispers "I tell you where Ettienne. I would like you and any conversation to go far away and I wish that you would never let the name Melisande la Vergaren pass your lips again." The whole time she speaks she keeps a smile on her face as not to appear questionable. Kitchen: Hopi says, "Ah, well, if he takes me away, there's no help for your friend. Who is this friend and how can an old woman aid him?" Locke says, "In any case, i need to find someone to provide a safe shelter for this man i speak of, and you seem like such a kind woman. I was hoping you could provide safe shelter for this man" Courtyard: Harl places the journal he found on the table and moves away "I am not here to help, good man, I have my charge." the Muskateer curtly responds to the man without so much as giving him a second look. Harl leaves and walks towards the northern hallway. Kitchen: Locke says, "my friend is of utmost importance, if he would not be safe with you, could you please lead me to someone who could." Northern Hallway: Harl has disconnected. Kitchen: Hopi says, "Who is he?" Courtyard: Prudence shakes her head. "I do so wish to know how you came upon such a portrait, Antoine." Phillippe says, "It is not right now I need you. I would like to ask you to help capture a criminal who has been preying on my land." Gates: [OOC] Mathieu says, "you lagging?" Fleur taking Mathiu's gaze deep into her own, she sighs as the memories come flooding back. "My parents and family was set upon by wolves one evening while sledding..." A lump rises in Fleur's throat as she sobs forth, "I was the only survivor..." looking away and breaking into a long respite of silent weeping, Fleur finally manages a long breath, and to steady her voice, "I am not old enough to inherit my family's fortune so I was sent to be charged by your father...as for why I stay, I would love to go back this instant, but I have my reasons.." Her gaze settles again upon the man's eyes, studying them fondly. Courtyard: Ettienne whispers in return, with his smile not leaving his face, "Yes, I'm sure you would, but it seems fore the monment that we are forced here together. And you asked before what I want from you, and the only thing I want is to remind you that your past is safe with me as long as mine is with you." His voice is a soft whisper, but the tone is harsh and forceful. Kitchen: Locke says, "His name, & thy knowledge of this man can not escape the walls of this room or go onto any other." Hopi nods. Courtyard: Antoine glances about the room as if looking for someone. [OOC] Antoine says, "s/room/courtyard" Kitchen: Locke says, "Mi Majesty, the King of England, Charles the 2nd." Hopi gasps. "The King is here?" Locke says, "He is of a short distance out of the town, i need to find a safe haven for him to stay" Gates: Mathieu takes you in his arms and hugs you letting you cry on his shouler (hehehe), "I'm sorry... I didn't know." He holds you for a moment, "That must have been terrible..." Kitchen: Locke says, "As thoust shallt know, England is in turmoil currently with Cromwel overthrowing the nobility, the fomer king, King Charles was beheaded. So i must find a place for mi lord, King Charles II to stay." Courtyard: Antoine says, "Pardon, M'Lady. The elderwoman... She first noticed the portrait. Perhaps she would know more?" Kitchen: Hopi says, "My poor hut in the woods is seldom intruded upon. But there are wolves in the wood at night, and it may not be safe for him to travel. Are there no high lords or ladies who sympathize with your cause?" Courtyard: Gabriel rolls his eyes and turns with a posture of disgust to Phillippe. "And why, pray tell, should I remove myself from my charges and assist you in capturing a petty thief?" The flamboyant Muskateer chides the Marquis. Phillippe says, "I don't wish you to remove yourself from anywhere, I just wished to alert the crown...or is the crown no longer in charge of keeping order?" Kitchen: Locke says, "I have found none trustworthy enough, & cromwell would find him if i did trust him int he hands of a high lord." Courtyard: Prudence looks around the courtyard. "Hopi?" She frowns. "I will be sure to ask her, then. Thank you, Antoine." Kitchen: Hopi says, "Would you keep him in my hovel?" Courtyard: Antoine nods politely, tucking the portrait back under his arm. Kitchen: [OOC] Locke says, "that your hut?" [OOC] Hopi says, "Yep." Gates: Fleur has reconnected. Courtyard: Grinning at the /lawyer/, Melisande whispers "Well Sir Ettienne, perhaps your secret would be safer if there was a way you could insure the estate does go to the crown." She eyes him with a hint of a threat though unsure if this is the card she should have played. Armand has connected. Kitchen: Locke nods, "That would most likely be safe, but no one must no he is here. Or the King of England would surely be found by the spies of Cromwell." Courtyard: Gabriel scowls and grits his teeth as he talks through a rigid jaw, "Are you suggesting that the crown is not loyal to its subjects?" his and swirls about the hilt of his sword. "Or that I am a poor representative of the King's men?" his eyes narrow as he feels the appropriate light has not be cast upon himself. Gates: Mathieu takes you in his arms and hugs you letting you cry on his shouler (hehehe), "I'm sorry... I didn't know." He holds you for a moment, "That must have been terrible..." [OOC] Fleur says, "Thanks" Courtyard: Phillippe backs up. "I just wished to inform you of a criminal preying on the King's subjects." Kitchen: Hopi nods. "If I am permitted to leave her, and not in the hands of that vile so-called doctor, I can lead your friend through the woods safely and he may stay with me." Gates: [OOC] Mathieu nods Kitchen: [OOC] Hopi says, "her should be here" Courtyard: [OOC] Armand says, "Im back. my mother decided that my sister wanting to check her email was more important than any obligation i could possibly have" Gates: Fleur has partially disconnected. Kitchen: Hopi says, "But I can not leave for long with milady in the state she is in." Courtyard: [OOC] Blanche snickers. Gates: Fleur stays in Mathieu's arms for a few moments, letting the time linger by wistfully. Finally pushing away from him, keeping hold of his hand, she continues to walk. Courtyard: Prudence p Maestro=:LAUGHS! Kitchen: Locke nods, "I will see to it that the doctor does not come near her. The King is 10 miles out of town in a shepperd's cottage." Courtyard: [OOC] Phillippe says, "Tell your mother that the Marquis will have her sold into slavery. :)" [OOC] Prudence oopses, too. Kitchen: Hopi says, "How will you deal with the doctor?" Courtyard: [OOC] Armand says, "heh" Gates: Mathieu walks with you, at a nice slow pace, "I don't wish to be nosy..." He smiles, "But may I ask what your other reasons are? Don't worry..." He looks over at you, "You don't have to be afraid around me..." Courtyard: [OOC] Armand says, "my family is so ignorant when it comes to the coputer and internet, my sister got knocked off, by line noise i suspect, so she ignorantly blaims i tried to connect and knocked her off, then my mom threatened to take away the 2nd phone line (whihc would cause even more problems)" [OOC] Armand says, "anyway, ack ic" Kitchen: Locke says, "Since he is a man of the church, i suggest you do this at night, when the lady rests.. I will stand guard out the door, & see to it so that no one bothers her." Courtyard: "Ah, a safer, you say?" the lawyer whispers back with a smile that does not quite touch his eyes, "Well perhaps I should remind you a little girl who was born to the lady in charge of brothel named Melani. Her mother sold her off to an old lady so she could be taken to court and have a better life. Does this sound familiar to you? It does to me." He smiles and then adds, "And if you wish this conversation to continue, I would recommend moving it to a quieter place." [OOC] Blanche says, "Don't worry it's just a threat." Kitchen: Hopi says, "He will not let me leave this house." Courtyard: [OOC] Ettienne says, "Tell her that if she wishes to take away the 2nd line then she has to get a 3rd. ;)" "Then perhaps you should point me to the village constable that I might put his head on a poll for dereliction of his duty!" The Muskateer snaps at the man, "Certainly your taxes to him are for your protection yet you trouble me with petty squabbles and insult me as you do." he continues with a deep frown as he voice level grows as he continues, "yes, show me to your constable and I shall punish him." Prudence winces as she takes note of the conflict between Phillip and the Muskateer. Gates: Fleur laughs merrily, "I know I do not m'lord. I am never afraid around you.." Looking abashed and away from the man she says quietly, "As for my reasons...I would feel foolish if I told you, for it is not something a man like you wishes to hear.." Courtyard: Armand says, "Oh dear." Gates: Mathieu raises an eyebrow, and chuckles slightly, "I would love to hear anything you have to say..." Mathieu squeezes your hand a little bit. Kitchen: Locke hmmz, "well, guess, we'll have to sneak you out when he's not looking." Courtyard: [OOC] Armand says, "heh" Kitchen: Locke says, "what does he want to do with you?" Courtyard: Phillippe realizes he picked the wrong musketeer to ask. "I'll...um. He can't find out who the man is. He...he tried, but suggested that the man wasn't local, just riding in, donning a mask, robbing, and riding out." Blanche looks on trying to hide the revulsion she feels at her husband's display. Kitchen: Hopi says, "'twere better perhaps if he were somehow made to leave us alone. He believes me to be a witch and to have killed the Marquis, and all manner of other evil." Courtyard: [OOC] Phillippe says, "*My* display? :)" Armand mutters something about wolves [OOC] Gabriel laughs, "Can you feel the love!" [OOC] Blanche laughs. Antoine clears his throat and interjects, "A mask, did you say?" Kitchen: Locke ahhs, "That is a serious accusation. What the Prudence's neighbor, Phillippe?" Courtyard: Prudence rubs at the small of her back with one hand as her eyes go to Antoine and the mention of the mask. Kitchen: [OOC] Locke says, "s/what/what about/" Courtyard: Gabriel's interest is peaked by the description, yet he fights with himself to conceal any interest. As the Lord Treasurer speaks, he steps back to give way and listens intently dispite his attitude of indifference. Welcoming Room: Mince has connected. Mince leaves and walks towards the gates. Gates: Mince enters from the roleplay welcoming room. Kitchen: Locke says, "did he not take care of this man?" Courtyard: Phillippe says, "Well, yes. Called 'Cunning Jacques'. He has stolen rather a lot from me." Armand whirles around and looks into the woods, thinking he hears something Phillippe says, "Including some blessed water I imported." Gates: From the distance, a horse can been seen from the distance, as it becomes more visible a rider with a black hood over his face comes into view. He makes at this time a full gallop into the gates of the estate, not miding anyone in his way. Courtyard: Standing rather quickly, Melisande looks down at the lawyer and whispers very low "That won't be neccessary Mr. Bossuet, that little girl is from a past I'd rather forget." Changing her expression as if the conversation never took place she searches around for Gabriel. After spotting him she says in a charming voice "It was very nice to meet you Mr. Bossuet. Perhaps we shall meet again." As she says this she squints her eyes at the man and tilts her head before continuing "I think I shall see what is keeping the interest that Muskateer. Prudence gasps, seemingly at the mention of blessed water. Armand recoils Kitchen: Locke says, "anyhow, time is of essence.. I shall talk to him" Hopi says, "He will protect me so I can care for Prudence and deliver the child. Thereafter, I do not know. He has been a good friend to me in the past, and mistrusts the doctor." Gates: Mathieu quickly swoops up Fleur out of the way of the oncomming horse and sets her back down... Courtyard: [OOC] Phillippe says, "And some pieces fall into place, of what I have no clue..." Armand says a short prayer Kitchen: Locke nods Courtyard: Phillippe looks around at all the reactions. Kitchen: Locke says, "I believed him to be a good man" Gates: After making his way past Fleur and Mathieu the horseman makes a trot into the courtyard. Mince leaves and walks towards the courtyard. Courtyard: Mince enters from the gates. Kitchen: Hopi shakes his head. "I can not leave this house while he is here. To sneak out would be to confirm his suspicions, and far too dangerous for me. You must get rid of him." Courtyard: Antoine notices the other reactions as well. Kitchen: [OOC] Hopi says, "s/his/her, ook. Thought I'd avoid that tonight!" Courtyard: Blanche says, "And here we have a mask...." Kitchen: [OOC] Locke says, "heh" Courtyard: Antoine coughs at the entrance of the masked figure. Phillippe looks oddly at the masked man entering. Kitchen: Locke nods, "Well, i'll be on my way to talk with him.." Courtyard: Armand says, "hrmmmm" First starting a trot, a lone horseman in a mask makes his way into the courtyard, he gallops for a moment as he peers about at all with a strange mask over his face. He reaches down underneath his tunic and withdraws a cutlass. Kitchen: Locke starts toward the Nortern Hallway. Locke leaves and walks towards the northern hallway. Mince looking about intidatingly with his mask, he peers at all assemble before booming to everyone in the courtyard, "I am looking for the witch, bring her to me now." Phillippe looks really confused. Armand says, "Under whos authority" Blanche says, "What witch?" Gabriel's eyes narrow to mere slits as 'the Mask'. Without hesitation, as the Masked rider draws weapon, Gabriel pulls his sword from his scabbard and pushes his cloak back. Quickly and without word, he locates his charges and moves to a position before the rider and stands with his sword drawn awaiting further action. Kitchen: Hopi toddles out. Courtyard: Hopi enters from the western hallway. [OOC] Gabriel says, "s/'the Mask'/'the Mask' enters." Prudence's voice seems to burst out of her, "What do you want with her?" Antoine sees the elderwoman enter. Hopi toddles in, her eyes immediately assessing Prudence's condition. Prudence is making a great effort to keep her breaths steady. As Gabriel comes near, Mince pulls back on the reigns of his force, forcing the force fore legs way into the air, kicking the air with power and splendor, Mince aims his horses hoffs at Gabriel. Armand says, "eep" Phillippe repeats, "Who are you?', but quickly moves out of the way. Antoine touches the midwife's arm and draws her attention to the masked horseman. Hopi startles and looks at Mince. Already out of the way, Ettienne stays where he is. He has a look on his face that shows he would move back if he wasn't already seated, but does not trust himself to stand and move. Antoine inquires of the midwife, "You know him, do you m'lady?" Hopi chuckles to herself. "Masks and mummery. Must be a man thing. No woman goes in for such foolishness." Prudence repeats. "What is it that you want with her, masked man?" There is an odd tinge of pain to her voice. Armand says, "Perhaps he has been sent by the church" Armand says, "Didnt harl mention someone being sent" Hopi realizes she's been addressed. "No, your worship. I was surprised to see a horse here. Should I know him?" Phillippe says, "Or, perhaps, he's going to kill us." Armand says, "or that" Gabriel slices the air before the beast with two quick X swipes of his sword then swiftly steps aside carefull to avoid the beast. "Be off before the King's men have you scewered and roasted over a pit." He looks around to make sure that both Lord Antoine and Lady Melisande are clear of the rogue's advances. Phillippe grins for a second. "But I like your explaination better, though, father." Gates: Mathieu leaves and walks towards the courtyard. Courtyard: Mathieu enters from the gates. [OOC] Mathieu says, "That's no fun" [OOC] Melisande says, "OTP" Phillippe shouts, "Mathieu, stay back!" Mathieu quickly jumps back behind some bushes, Oblivious to what is happening... With this, the masked man, moves his horse around and trotts back towards the gate, before turning about widely sending the horse in a full gallop towards the center of the courtyard. Armand takes out his bible and starts saying a very long prayer Hopi takes cover behind a tree. Ettienne stays silent throughout the events, seemingly content in his out of the way position. Blanche backs up all the way to the wall, finding herself suddenly praying also. Prudence cries out, loudly, her eyes on the horseman. She is unable to move, seemingly frozen to her place. Mathieu draws a dagger from his boot, watching the man ride on his horse, sitting in wait by the gate. Antoine's eyes narrow slightly, not certain what next to say. He fixes his gaze upon the masked horseman's approach. Phillippe looks at Prudence and realizes something is wrong, but can't think of anything to do. Hopi notices as well, and leaves the safety of her tree to toddle, as quickly as her old legs can take her, toward Prudence. [OOC] Armand says, "damnit!!! my moms making me get off the computer to do a few chores, ill be 10 minutes" [OOC] Phillippe says, "You can just crouch in a corner and pray. :)" [OOC] Locke says, "back" Mathieu steps out from behind the bushes and yells a curse at the masked horseman, standing defiently in the middle of the exit out of the manor. Phillippe looks at his son in amazement and confusion. "Um...son? What are you...doing?" While his horse is the gallop, the masked man aims his horse in a gallop towards Hopi, his strong hands reach out towards the witch, and with a sudden thrust he drags Hopi alongside the horse. Hopi screams as she is dragged. Phillippe yells, "Hey! Stop! We need her!" Prudence clutches her belly and screams. "No...you can't take her!" Mathieu turns to his father, "Being what I want to be. A real man, not some pathetic polotician.." Phillippe says, "A real man. A real dead man." Antoine mutters as the elderwoman is snagged from his presence, "That's why." Ettienne watches the horseman grab witch with utter amazement on his face. His jaw in wide open until he closes it with a loud, hollow *click*. Blanche rushes to Prudence's side. "Oh no, Prudence!" [OOC] Ettienne grrs, "in-->is" Phillippe follows his wife over now that the horseman is heading out. Blanche says, "We more than need Hopi...we need her now!" Locke moves his hand to the hilt of his sword in readiness to pull out at moments notice Prudence sobs, unable to catch her breath. She tries to scream at the horsement. "PLEASE!" Mathieu runs after the horse as fast as he can, then stops and yells another curse at the man, but this time continues speaking afterword, "You cowerdly scum... Get off that horse and fight me like a man..." He takes off his long cape and crouches down, "Let the witch go, and fight me you bastard!" Prudence looks at Blanche, terror in her eyes. "I'm...having...her..." Gabriel leaps to the top of a low planter raised approximately 3 feet from the ground and moves about it hoping in vain that the rider will come close enough to be able to use his blade on him. Phillippe yells, "She's not a witch!" and completely misses the 'her' from Prudence. Keeping the horse in full gallop, the horse man rides towards the open door at the northern corridor, his horse, obviously of great breeding, takes the gallop in great stride. Blanche looks back at Prudence in total understanding. "I know.. hold onto me." She yells at the men, "We need help and now! Prudence is having her baby now!!" Antoine pales at the realization that the Lady is going into labor. Dining Room: Rathbone leaves and walks towards the nw hallway. NW Hallway: Rathbone enters from the dining room. [OOC] Hopi says, "*But she is dressed as one* *They dressed me up like this!*" Ettienne gets up and makes an effort to follow the man, but not having a chance, he stops after a few strides. He then turns to Prudence and walks over. [OOC] Mathieu says, "Tell me, what do you do with witches? :P" Melisande stands back far away from the comotion in total shock and disbelief. Shaking her head and clutching her hands to her chest she watches Gabriel closely whispering prayers for his safety under her breath the whole time. NW Hallway: Rathbone leaves and walks towards the courtyard. Courtyard: Rathbone enters from the nw hallway. Phillippe looks at Mathieu and thinks of something. "The witch is inside! That's the wrong person!" Locke races toward the door as he draws out his sword, in guard of anyone that comes near the horseman. Mathieu starts running back after the man as fast as he can go. [OOC] Melisande don't know nuffin bout birthin no babies! [OOC] Blanche laughs. Hopi yells as she's bounced mercilessly against the horse's flank. Gabriel chases after the horseman with his cape flowing behind him. Confounded by the escape he stops and stares in frustration. [OOC] Melisande says, "Actually that's a lie since I've had 4." [OOC] Phillippe says, "Money won't help, my son, but deceit might. :)" Blanche screams at Gabriel. "Catch that horse...we NEED Mother Hopi!" [OOC] Armand says, "back" [OOC] Ettienne says, "Where's the Doc when you need 'em? ;)" Noticing the man in front of the door, with his sword dwarn, the masked man looks down with a shrug towards the old lady in his hands. He releases her from his grip, taking a few moments to once again draw the cutlass from his underneath his cloak. [OOC] Blanche giggles. They're always somewhere else...like cops. Mathieu turns to Gabriel, "Sir, please allow me to fight by your side..." Prudence is soaked with sweat, watching the disappearance of her midwife. She bites her lip as another contraction wracks her body. Armand stands up and starts loudly preaching from the bible Antoine walks toward the stopped horseman, portrait under his arm as though it had some purpose. Mathieu continues, "I may not be a musketeer, but I can fight, even if it is with an eight inch blade..." Watching with awe at the men valiently trying to save the old lady, Ettienne stands quietly where he is and makes a vain attempt to watch the two most exciting scenes. Blanche supports Prudence with both arms. Phillippe looks at Prudence and says, "Just stay calm and...um...be calm." He obviously isn't able to think of anything to say. [OOC] Prudence says, "A new twist to size doesn't matter, Mathieu?" Following into the room slowly, Errol Rathbone wanders in and tries his best to fit in as if he has been here the whole time. He watches the current commotion and happenings and begins to piece the situation together. Hopi falls to the ground. [OOC] Armand says, "heh" [OOC] Mathieu says, "Lets throw Hopi around some more, it'd be fun. :P" [OOC] Phillippe says, "Damn not being by a women's side whn she gives birth...the way we do this century is better. :)" Seeing the Midwife dropped from the speeding steed, Gabriel runs forward once more to protect her. He stops just past her so that he is between the rider and the woman, but being unable to catch the speeding rider stops and awaits his return. Antoine quickens his pace toward the gate. [OOC] Armand says, "we need a sports broadcaster in here to give us a play by play" Mathieu starts his advance towards the rider again, "Come on you coward. Get off your horse..." [OOC] Ettienne grins. Prudence clutches onto Blanche, her face bright red. She calls out again. "Please..." Blanche says, "One of you men help Hopi over here!!!" Armand rushes over to help hopi [OOC] Ettienne wows, "It's the 'Miracle of Life' all over again." ;) [OOC] Gabriel says, "I'm standing near her to protect her." [OOC] Armand says, "heh" Phillippe looks at the horseman, looks at Prudence, looks at the horseman, then heads slowly towards Hopi, looking as if he has a million better things to be doing. Hopi slumps on the ground, but the sound of Prudence's cries causes her to raise her head, and slowly begin to crawl across the courtyard toward the laboring woman. Her legs appear to be dragging helplessly behind her as she pulls herself along the ground with her arms. [OOC] Blanche is rofl. [OOC] Mathieu says, "Ah, I see you have the Machine that goes 'PING!'" The lone rider looks about in desperation at the scene, he eyes a large pond at the southeastern end of the courtyard, the only other option would be to face Gabriel. With his weapon in hand, the lone rider pulls the horse around and once again pulls him into a gallop. With skill the rider jumps over the large pond. Armand raises hopis head Antoine arrives at the place where the elderwoman landed and offers his assistance, "M'Lady is needing you." He tries to help her stand. [OOC] Armand says, "screw this" Armand picks up hopi and brings her over to everyone else Phillippe helps the priest halfway back. Ettienne walks over to the birthing women and says to those gathered there, "Uh, is there anything I can do?" Hopi grimaces in pain as her legs are touched. Mathieu picks up a stone and hurls it in the direction of the rider, managing to strike his horse in the flank. Locke pulls out his sword & draws it to the back of Mathieu, "Stand back. This is not your fight." Armand says, "thanks" Blanche says, "Hopi, what can we do?" Antoine raises an eyebrow and watches as the elderwoman is carried away... yet again. Hopi screws up her face. "Put me done, sonny, near her." She looks at Prudence, and, when she's close enough, lays her hands on the woman's lower belly, gently. [OOC] Armand says, "who has hopi ?" Phillippe looks over at Locke with a sword at his back and sighs. After succesfully completing the jump over the pond, the lone rider turns to only have a rock hit his steed in the head, causing the steed to loose balance. With little he can do the lone rider jump from his steed and is thrown into a pile of hey. [OOC] Blanche says, "Um.. you and Phillippe" [OOC] Armand says, "ok" [OOC] Phillippe says, "Yup." Prudence cries between breaths. "Oh, Hopi. You're hurt." Her face fills with despair. "We are all lost...and Isabeau. Nobody to deliver Isabeau." Mathieu spins around quickly, knocking Locke back far enough that he is out of swords reach, "What quarrel have you with me that you draw a blade on me while my back is turned?" Phillippe heads over to his son. Armand says, "IT cant be that hard. ive heard stories of people giving birth by themselves int he woods" Mathieu holds his dagger out towards Locke... [OOC] Mathieu says, "LOL" Hopi manages a wry smile at Prudence. "Now, dearie, takes more than a fall to kill me. And more than a baby to kill you. Just relax now, and when I tell you to, push the child out. The baby's just fine. Ettienne looks at the Priest and raises and eyebrow, but says nothing. Locke flicks the sword as Matheiu's dagger goes flying into the Air & then jumps over to the rider. Hopi flashes Armand a frown. "Sonny, why don't you try that?" Armand stands over prudence and utters a string of prayers [OOC] Armand says, "on second thought i guess i shoulda said that ooc :)" Prudence says, "But it's a girl, Hopi...my baby is a girl...we have no lace to live." [OOC] Ettienne wonders how a priest would explain getting pregant. ;p Locke whispers something into the masked riders ear. Mathieu turns around and glares at the too men, as he stands there, defenceless. [OOC] Armand says, "heh" Blanche says, "We could use some capes to lay Prudence on for her delivery." Phillippe doges as he almost gets hit with his sons dagger. Hopi says, "And how do you know that, dearie? It's too soon for even me to tell that." Antoine watches the horseman and Locke. With the rider successfully dismounted, Gabriel begins to pursue him on foot. He runs to the small pond and begins to wade as swiftly as possible through it. the waters splash wildly as he clears the water and arrives on the other side, very wet. "Mask, surrender yourself in the name of the King!" He calls loudly as he moves toward the pile of hay. Armand takes that outer robe blanket deal that priests wears over their clothes and lets hopi use that Mathieu quickly runs over and picks up his dagger, then runs off towards the pond and begins to wade across as well. Hopi begins to sing a quiet and soothing song to Prudence. Phillippe runs after his son. "Hey! What are you doing? Are you crazy?" Melisande continues to stand back out of the way as it appears Lady Prudence is about to give birth. Her eyes dart around trying to avoid the woman but with so much attention focused on her she feels it neccessary to offer some assistance. Approaching Ettienne she whispers "What can I do to help?" Ettienne pulls off his cloak and grimaces as he hands it to the old woman, "Here, you may use this as well." Prudence grimaces and tenses as the pain of another contraction shoots through her body. "She tells me so, Hopi...she tells me she is a girl." [OOC] Armand says, "17th century ultrasound" [OOC] Ettienne chuckles. Emerging from the pile of hay, The masked man comes out with several cuts visibily clear across the body. His entire clothing is covered in hay as he looks towards Gabriel, closing into a combat ready position, his cutlass ready to defend himself in need. Mathieu reaches the other side and pulls himself out of the pond, keeping his gaze on Locke... Phillippe stops at the other side of the ponds and watches. Hopi covers Prudence with the capes and cloaks, and watches the contraction until it passes. "Now, dearie," she says in her quiet sing-song, "with the next pain, you must push the child out." Ettienne turns to Melisande and whispers harshly, "Nothing! You can do nothing. Let those who know what they are doing handle this." [OOC] Phillippe says, "Too bad there is a) No lamaza, and b) No pain killers. ;)" Locke helps the masked rider up & then walks away as if he's gonna duel him Armand continues reading from the bible while standing near pru Antoine stands in the open courtyard amazed at the whole indignity of the situation. Blanche holds onto Prudence's hands. "Squeeze as hard as you need to, dear." [OOC] Armand says, "lets get some lightning in here for effect" [OOC] Ettienne grins. "Woohoo, 17th century special effects." [OOC] Hopi will get hung if she uses any herbs, she suspects. Locke poitns his sword to the masked rider as the horse is near him, "Defend yourself!" Hopi nods approvingly at Blanche. Trying hard to remember proper etiquette and training, Gabriel shouts, "Put your weapon on the ground and your life may be spared." His chest heaves as he tries to catch his breath. He pushes his cape aside once more, though it is difficult as drenched as it is. [OOC] Phillippe says, "Wow, that sucks...for Prudence. :)" [OOC] Armand says, "why dont you take the cape off?" [OOC] Ettienne says, "He needs it for looks. You can't fight if you don't have to look. :)" Melisande breaths a sigh of relief as her assistance is unwanted and obviosly unneeded. Intrigued by the event however she continues to watch only looking away in search of Gabriel occasionally. [OOC] Armand says, "heh" [OOC] Ettienne says, "to-->the" A crack of lightning lights up the sky, then the lownd boom of thunder seems to shake the very ground the people are standing on, a few seconds later, it begins to rain... Withing a few more seconds sheets of rain are comming down, and more lightning is cracking against the sky. Prudence takes Blanche's hand and probably makes her regret her generous offer by squeezing...and squeezing...and squeezing. Her breaths come quick and uneven and she whimpers with fear. Locke glances back at Mathieu, "Get back child!" Following Gabriel quickly, Errol Rathbone grabs his shoulder, "No need to pursuit further, Musketeer," he grumbles, "He can be 'dealt' with later." He motions towards the midwife and widow, "They should be helped first." Armand continues praying over prudence, and raises his voice to add to the added effect of the thudner and lightning Hopi pushes a few more capes toward the other women. "Form a shelter from the rain. Blanche grits her teeth and tries not to groan. Antoine quickly wraps his newly acquired portrait in his own cape and makes a dash for the indoors. Ettienne eyes grow wider and wider as time passes. As the rain begins to fall, he grunts, "Great." and grows quiet. Mathieu looks towards Locke, obviously very confused as he steps back, still keeping his weapon ready. Blanche says, "Maybe the men could carry Prudence indoors?" Hopi says, "TOo late to move her now." Blanche sighs regretfully. Phillippe wanders back over to his wife and company. The mask man turns his attention over towards the commotion of the midwife and birthing mother. Looking back over to gabriel the masked man makes a sprint towards the midwife, trying to defend himself in need with his cutlass. Armand says, "someone hold a cape over her" Hopi massages Prudence's belly, and holds her hand ready to catch the baby when the next contraction begins. Locke starts racing aftre the masked man, but is too slow. Mathieu takes off running after the horseman, but obviously is no match for his speed, especially with the head start. Antoine pauses momentarily to cast a glance of curiousity at the birthing process, before continuing his dash for the indoors. As the rain starts pouring down, Melisande searches for cover though none can be found in the courtyard. Frustration comes over her as she mutters "Where is that Gabriel!" Ettienne takes one edge of his cape in his hands and hands the other to Melisande, "Take that side and hold it taunt." Antoine leaves and walks towards the western hallway. Gabriel grabs the Blade, Rathbone, by the collar and pushes him back hard but does not let go. He pulls his sword up to the slugs throat and is about to speak when he notices the Mask sprinting toward the Midwife. He shoves the Blade hard to the side and sprints off after the rider shouting warnings as he runs. Phillippe says, "I'll help, too." and picks up a cape, holding it over Prudence. Unfortunely, the cape has water pooled on it, and he gets it all up and down his front. "Well, that's just great" he mutters. Mathieu stops and throws his dagger neatly hitting the mask in the right bicep. Prudence's eyes are wide as the strongest contraction yet hits her. Gritting her teeth, she begins pushes with all her might, crying out. Phillippe sees the masked man running towards them. "We have a problem here." Mathieu stands unarmed, looking towards the Sword, and then the Mask... Hopi says, "Now, dearie, push." Blanche concentrates completely on Prudence. Prudence shouts at Hopi. "I AM PUSHING!" Locke catches up to the masked man, & then turns back with his sword drawn. Hopi says, "And well, dearie. I can see the head! One more push now and it's done." Melisande sighs loudly as she grabs the side of the cape. Wishing she could use it to cover herself as the rain is pouring down on her but instead she uses it to try to cover the Lady as best she can. Stumbling backwards under the force of Gabriel, the Cardinal's Blade follows after him at a somewhat slower jog. His attention suddenly grasped by the screams of the woman giving birth. A tiny chill runs down his spine as he continues following the Musketeer. Ettienne looks thoughtfully at Melisande as she doesn't take the cape and then sees the man running at them as a dim shape obscured slightly by the rain. Sighing, he begins to move quietly into the background and hopes not to be noticed. Looking back for a limpse, the masked man notices that Locke instead of turning to fight, has turned around towards the oncoming musketeers with weapon warning. With a increased sprint the mask man makes his way towards the midwife, discarding his weapon in favour of speed. Western Hallway: Antoine has disconnected. Courtyard: Mathieu stands there, drenched, all alone in the middle of the field, unarmed and unable to help. He stands there for a moment, taking in the situation, and seeing the mask drop his blade, runs as fast as he can toward the man, picking up speed. Phillippe looks worriedly at the mask running toward him. The sound of pain and fear is evident in Prudence's labor as she continues squeezing Blanche's hand and continues pushing with strength the small young woman didn't even know she had...a child is born into the world...but no sound from it can yet be heard... Mother Hopi whoops, "There it is! Well done, dearie." Though she's still sprawled on the floor, she holds up a slippery and silent child. [OOC] Locke whistles Hopi's eyes play over the baby, piercingly, as she begins to massage it with one hand. Blanche looks at the silent baby. "Oh Hopi...is the baby alright? Please, let the baby be alright." Mathieu bends down and grasps the discarded cutlass while still running, losing his balance and slipping on the wet grass, and faceplanting. After laying there for a moment, he picks himself back up and begins his sprint again, still a good twenty yards behind the mask... Phillippe looks at the baby, worried. "We still have a problem here. That crazy masked person is back." Prudence cries, trying to see her child. "I can't hear anything...Hopi!" There is pure terror in the mother's voice. Locke glances back at Gabriel & then continues running after the masked man "Stop the Mask! Stop the Mask!" Gabriel shouts breathlessly as he continues his chase, but unlike his opponent, he continues with his weapon. He sees Locke blocking his path and approaches quickly. "I shall take down this dreg!" he calls as he prepares to attack the Englishman. Ettienne continues to watch the scene being played out, from the relative safty of the background. Seeing the baby, and hearing how it is not crying. He smiles and says in a low voice with a smile, "This could maky my job easier." Locke turns back to Gabriel at the moemtn he said that A babe's shriek fills the air. Hopi yells in joy. "He lives, milady. Your son lives." Locke says, "Ok, defend youself!" Blanche sighs with relief and smiles. "Her son?" Locke see's Gabriel close to him, & starts going in circles around Gabriel with his sword drawn Phillippe looks happy at the sound of son. Hopi says, "Aye, madame. 'Tis is a boychild, and with strong lungs." Prudence's voice is tired and grateful at the life of her child. Hopi's words sink in. "I have a son?" She laughs, joyfully. Locke 'niks the musketeers hand as a warning. Ettienne frowns as he hears the sound of a baby's cry in the air. "Her son?!" he says with astonishment mixed with relief. Hopi rests the child on Prudence's chest, and smiles gently. "Well done, milady." She closes her eyes, and sags to the ground beside Prudence. [OOC] Phillippe says, "Um, where is the masked guy? What is he doing?" Mathieu starts to gain a little on the mask and yells out some more curses at the man, trying to slow him down, if just for a few seconds. [OOC] Locke says, "he's supposebly running towards Hopi, but its been awhile" Blanche grins. "Seems you'll have to pick out another baby name, Prudence. Congratulations." [OOC] Mince says, "he's heading towards the birthing party.. well ahead of the musketeers, which I presume is near you?" As the Englishman formally challenges him and steps to the side to begin circling, Gabriel races by him with fantastic speed and continues his pursuit of the Mask. He lets out a laugh as the Englishman moves so foolishly, "Mathieu, the Englishman!" He calls as he runs on. Blanche sits back and rubs her hands, trying to get the blood running in them again. [OOC] Phillippe says, "Yeah, he's in slow motion." [OOC] Ettienne says, "Just like in any bad action movie. ;p" Prudence reaches for the midwife as she cuddles her son. "Hopi, thank you. I'm so sorry...so sorry I ever doubted you..." There are tears of exhaustion and joy in her eyes. Locke snorts, "Fiend!" then starts running after Gabriel Mathieu stops his sprint and stands in the path between Locke and Gabriel, Cutlass drawn, "Defend yourself English dog!" Locke turns backaround & laughs Hopi does not respond. [OOC] Armand says, "damnit im baclk" [OOC] Armand says, "damn mom" Locke scrapes Mathieu's legs from the knee to his ankle, "You childish fool!" Phillippe yells, "Mathieu! Don't get yourself hurt!" Locke says, "i have nothing with you! Get out of your way or be slautered!" [OOC] Locke says, "i mean, out of my way" Blanche leans even further back then tilts to one sidea, sliding completely to the soggy ground as her frail body passes out completely. Prudence looks at Blanche, the fear returning to her eyes. Then she seeks the midwife again. "Hopi? HOPI!" Mathieu grimaces in pain but doesn't lower his blade, "You will not get involved with the musketeer and the mask." He makes a quick swipe, taking off a lock of Locke's hair, "If you do, it will be through me first..." [OOC] Blanche says, "Been fun peeps... gotta go tho." Blanche has disconnected. Chasing with amazing speed after the Musketeer, Rathbone draws his cutlass and prepares for an assault as soon as Gabriel halts, "HALT MUSKETEER!" he cries as he sprints after him. Phillippe doesn't see his wife fall over as he runs towards his son. [OOC] Armand says, "is hopi dead?" Gabriel ignores the calls of the Blade behind him and continues after the Masked Blade. Mathieu spits in Locke's face, "You will not interfear, english swine. Your mother was a hampster, and your father smelt of elderberries!" Prudence is distraught as she looks at the woman that brought her child into the world. "Please Hopi...Please..." She cries. "The horseman...maybe he still has the blessed water he stole...maybe he can help her." She shakes Hopi, trying to wake the woman up. [OOC] Melisande is lovin this! [OOC] Ettienne laughs. Armand says, "And you shall ascend to heaven... and sit at the right hand of his father, may all your sins be forgiven... for now... and forever" With the mask man in full sprint towards the midwife, he fails to notice Phillippe coming in close by, as the man slugs him in the face, the mask man amazingly is able to pass the man with little less then a bleeding nose, as soon as he reaches the midwife, he removes the mask from his face, showing a young man in it's place, he immediately look towards the midwife with grief, "You stole my lover, you will die for that. ". With this he closes his hands around the midwifes throat. Armand says, "At this point we'll need the blessed water" Coming out of his semi-safe spot, Ettienne walks over to where the midwife lays on the ground. He looks at her with curiosity and then bends over to get a closer look at the male child. Armand says, "All miracles that i am aware of require it" Armand says, "Or alternatively if we had pure water i could bless it" [OOC] Ettienne wonders where all this blessed water stuff came from.
